Josh Holloway in Fourth Mission Impossible

Mission Impossible is back in action! Director Brad Bird is back to deliver another mission for viewers to take a part of. As of right now, there is no news on the plot but the cast has been announced, and new member, Josh Holloway, will be joining the cast of Mission Impossible 4.

Josh Holloway is known for his acting in the hit TV drama, LOST which was good until about the third season where the plot deranged and confused many viewers. Josh Holloway had a solid performance in the series and I believe he will be a great asset to the new Mission Impossible.

As you can see from the audition tape, Josh Holloway has that talent for acting. He is able to remain calm with no emotions whatsoever which is ideal for an action spy thriller. There is no word yet on the role he will serve in the upcoming movie but either way, he will be a quality asset to the flick.

Transformers 3 Filming

Well I was looking online for new films coming up and I came across videos of transformers 3 being recorded in Chicago. With this, the filming seems to follow the film's  predecessors, just all out action. Moreover I was able to see first hand footage of the new cast member of Shia Labeouf's new love interest Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. If you want to be a part of the action, go to Washington D.C because  Filming begins in on Monday September 27th, 2010.

Wallstreet: Money Never Sleeps (Movie Review)

Is greed good? That is the question that surrounds the film. Throughout the film one is trying to figure out if greed is actually beneficial o does it destroy someone? Micheal Douglas's portrayal as infamous wall street stock trader Gordon Gekko is finally out of prison and ready to re enstate himself into the world of stocks.

Jacob Moore (Shia Labeouf)  is the perfect prey for Gekko's rise to fame and richness again. Jacob Moore is a young man trying to prove himself in the war of stock trading. He is constantly trying to work his way up. Jacob is also married to Gekko's estranged daughter Winnie Gekko (Carey Mulligan). Winnie has severe hatred in her father due to the reason of her brother's Rudy suicide, and this impending thought allowed her to blame herself and her father for his death and allowed them to have a terrible relationship. Jacob serves as the peace negotiator trying to bring father and daughter back together while at the same trying trying to have Mr. Gekko teach him about stocks and ultimately lead him to riches.

So, back to the question, is greed good? Well in the movie, greed is ubiquitous throughout the film. Jacob and Mr. Gekko, and many other characters all contain greed. Their lives are motivated by the color green. With this sight for gaining more money, greed has allowed them to lose their morality and human goodness and be replaced by manipulation and backstabbing. All in all, greed can provide one with riches, but the one thing greed cannot provide one with is happiness.

Resident Evil: Afterlife, Review

Today I saw the next film in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil: Afterlife. To me this film was compressed too much of slow motion, gore, and predictable action sequences.

At first the film embarks on an interesting path with a lone girl standing in the middle of Tokyo looking dazed, bewildered, and containing a placid look. My immediate response was that this film was going to contain some technological updates from the others, and contain more slow motion (since it was in 3-D). However, there was no esoteric depth to this film in any presence. The actors all have expressionless faces throughout the film and hamper the connection with the film goers allowing for no emotions to be conveyed between the audience and the actors. Moreover, this new edition to the sequel generated unanswered questions. My first puzzlement was at the beginning when the Tokyo headquarters was being infiltrated by clones representing Alice. This bewilderment allowed me to ponder on how Alice got this ability and that question was never answered. Another thing to take note on was the slow motion sequences. By the time the film reached the middle, the whole entire story line was already replenished with cliches. The slow motion became unmistakeably trite and useless to the satire of the film. It can be inferred that the slow motion was only incorporated to increase more profit for the 3D film. The one thing that made my blood boil was how the Los Angeles survivors were the stereotypes of California, just rich famous movie producers and gay men. This added to the detached plot and stale performances.

All in all, if I had to compare this film to something, I would compare it to a teen's film project. Simply put it was a cornucopia of banal lines,  an impenetrable plot, and a lavish of money grabbing effects. I just hope the next installment suffers a budget crisis or gets cancelled.

Goodfellas Movie Review

Goodfellas is a classic mafia film that is as popular as The Godfather. Last weekend I was going through the many films I have and decided to watch The Goodfellas. This was my first time watching the movie so I had no idea what to expect. While watching it, I was mesmerized by the strong performances by the actors. The story line was very concise, suspenseful, and really made you explore the depths of the protagonist's life. The thing about this movie that I love is that you really got to know the characters. You were able to see who they really were and etc. I loved this movie from the first five minutes and onwards and will forever consider this film a classic.

Due Date (Trailer Review)

The major comedy to hit the big screens is the film "Due Date" directed by Todd Phillips. The cast includes Zach Galifianakis, Michelle Monaghan and Jamie Foxx. Zach Galifianakis is the famous "wolf pack guy" from the critically hit film "The Hangover". He is back in this new film which seems delightfully funny. Here's the trailer:

Although in my opinion it does not seem it will be as funny as the Hangover. However, it does have the potential to be a noteworthy comedy. Mr. Galifanakis is again the role of a deranged man as he was in the flick, "The Hangover." Unfortunately, I am not sure if Robert Downy Jr.'s performance will pay off of as an actor. I hope he does not FAIL like Mark Wahlberg's rendition in "The Other Guys." I personally am excited to see this film and I will post my full consensus of the film once I go see it. So, if you want to see my consensus of the film, just stick around and I will make a review once it comes out in theaters.

5 ways to critiquing a movie.

To be a critic, you must understand the five ways on how to critique a movie. In my personal opinion, I believe this is the best way. Every time I watch a movie I am always looking for these five things:

1) Character Development
2) Plot Development
3) An interesting conflict / struggle
4) unpredictability
5) timely video effects

Character Development: This is probably the most important part of a film. Characters in a film need to be someone who another person can relate to. For example, lets say a character is having trouble finding the right person to date, that is something we can all relate to. Moreover, it is important to see how the character changes his / hers thoughts or action as the film progresses. Every character goes on a quest, and on this quest, they learn more about themselves and this assists them in transforming into a new person. I personally love to see a character change within the film because it adds more meaning and excitement to the flick.

Plot Development: A movie needs a consistent plot in order to have good reviews. You need a plot that is easy to comprehend and does not lead you into a maze of confusion. For example, the movie "Gamer" did not live up to its trailer because it sidetracked from its original purpose of exploring a man who is trying to fight his way to freedom. Without a concise plot that is suspenseful and dramatic, don't expect the film to receive positive reviews.

An interesting conflict / struggle: In a conflict, the character struggles to achieve something. That something can be whatever, from getting the date of his or hers dream, to saving the world from destruction. One of most personal favorite conflicts, is the conflict the protagonist has to deal with in "28 Days Later". In the film, the protagonist has to come to terms to accept this new society of zombies and learn how to fight for survival. In addition to the paramount of zombies, the protagonist must also have to fight off humans who have turned into a mental case due to the stress of the zombie infestation. I was awed by this conflict because I could not believe how someone can survive and learn to adapt to this strange new world. With that in mind, a successful conflict / struggle is one that makes you feel bad for the character and make you feel attached to whoever needs to face this struggle. If you don't feel any of that, than that means that the conflict presented is not a very idealistic one.

Unpredictability: This is a major part to a flick. People hate films that they can figure out, I know I personally do. If you can predict the ending of a film or whatever is going to come next, this means you probably must be feeling a bit bored. Unpredictability allows movie-goers to keep on guessing until the end. When someone is guessing what is going to happen next, they begin to feel the excitement of the movie and feel the suspense.

Timely Video Effects:  In this day and age, technology has advanced itself more than it ever has. This means that it is time for movie studios to do the same. Video effect give the audience a sensation of awe which allows them to enjoy the flick more. Furthermore, bad video effects that don't look real make people "boo" at the film. Even though "2012" sucked, it was still very exciting to see the power of the video effects. The destruction of Los Angeles awed me in such a way and made me think how technology has advanced to allow the effects editors to make something so creative like that. I believe bad video effects are just no good, no one like cheesy effects and cheesy effects make people  not want to see the film.

The Social Network Trailer Review.

Facebook, the most widely used social network in the world is hitting the big screen everyone. The true story of how Facebook became what it is now is about to be illustrated in movie theaters for everyone to enjoy. Here's the movie trailer.

After watching the trailer, I was memorized by the performances of the actors. These young actors seem to have the ability to capture a story and play it out. Another element I liked about the film was the background music, the song sounds familiar but it seems to be edited into a slower version which adds more drama to the trailer.

Resident Evil Afterlife Trailer Review

Well everyone, Alice is back. I love zombie apocolypse films but this one does not look as good as the sequel seems. The trailer is out so here it is

The one reason why I feel this movie is going to be not so great is for one simple reason 3D!!!!! I am sick of all these 3D films. All they want is to generate more profit from ticket sales since 3D film tickets  cost more than normal 2D films. Furthermore, these 3D films just revolve around popping objects and they loose focus on the actual story line and character developments. Soon enough the movie become trite and boring. I for one cannot stand to see a 3D film, technology is advancing in film in a way the demoralizes the actual plot within a flick.

Moreover, this film just seems to packed with bigger action. More zombie slayings of the same sort. Some huge giant blue thingy in downtown Los Angeles. All I know, is the producers are taking a bigger step in the production of these films. I just hope this next step makes the critics more satisfied.

Take My Soul (Trailer Review)

Well, Wes Craven has done it again. The creator Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream is off to the big screen again with his new horror film, "Take My Soul" Take a look.

The movie begins with a very gloomy scenery in a rural town, (always the typical place for a horror film.) The fact that the guy is Asian is a surprising to me (me thinking he is the main character) until I find out he is killed off by a guy in a party city costume. So definitely the first flaw I point out are the cheesy horror costumes. They look like they were designed at party city. Come on Hollywood, you can do better than this.

Moreover, the cast do not seem to entice me into the film. The narrator's voice is too "acted" for me. It seems like a repeat of the cast from Avatar: the last Airbender = TERRIBLE ACTING.

In addition, I am quite confused on how they are going to explain this film. They seem to present too much of the plot in this trailer. Already from this trailer, I can figure out that the main character (the blond kid) is the actual killer in some paranormal way.

Finally, this film does not really excite me, it does not give me the goose bumps what so ever. It just seems to be a teen killer where you just see teens getting slayed one by one (like that isn't uncommon in your typical horror film nowadays).

Salt Movie Review

I know I am a bit late into this movie review (because of extranious other work). SPOILER ALERT

In a few simple words, Salt was that "better than expected movie". Upon walking into Salt I knew I was going to get a lot of action scenes, and best to say, I got what I deserved. Salt is an action packed movie filled with suspense and loads of gunfights and fighting scenes in which every action craving fan would adore.

On the negative side, I found the character Salt a bit hard to define. In the movie, action sequences are ubiquitous. There is barely any space for character development in this movie. In a movie, I usually always look for character development, but in this movie I found none. Moreover, there is little provided about Salt's thoughts, personality, and background. I know I know, she is a secret agent, so were supposingly not suppose to learn about the character, but in every movie the audience should learn about the character. Ultimately, Salt is a loosely defined character along with the other characters in the film.

In Summation, Salt is an action packed summer blockbuster which I very much enjoyed. It keeps you guessing till the end and awes you with the action sequences. I highly recommend people to see this film and examine Angelina's performance.

Inception Movie Review

Last week I had the opportunity to view the awaited film "Inception". Inception stars the notable celebrities Leonardo Di Caprio and Ellen Paige. The movie was produced and direct by Christopher Nolan.

At first when I heard of this film, the first thought that came to mind was: "Hollywood finally came up with a good idea for a film, I hope they don't fail at this attempt." I was cautious about seeing this flick but the pure idea and logistics of the film just simply pushed me into the movie seat.

I was filled with excitement as I went to see the film and this film is not one to be reckoned with. Throughout the course of the film you will be at the edge of your seat. What made this film a success is how it makes the viewer ponder about the movie and venture into the dream world. I admire the planned and collaborated of the "dream worlds" and how each individual character contribute to the act of seizing or in this case, implanting an idea into that dreamer's dream.

The strong performances by Ellen Paige and Leo greatly attributed to the commercial success of this "rare summer blockbuster". The tranquil Ellen and edgy Leo combine to produce an imaginative thriller of epic proportions.

All in all, I advise many to view this film as it is that rare film to feel proud to see. After seeing the terribly failed attempt "Avatar: the last Airbender", "Inception" however began to change my opinions of hollywood of not an industry just trying to generate profits but to provide their viewers with a film long to be remembered.
